On 20 May 2025, the Thai Supreme Court upheld a prison sentence of nearly three years for rock singer Sek Loso, following charges related to resisting arrest, drug use, and illegal firearm possession stemming from a 2017 police raid.
Seksan Sukpimai, widely known as Sek Loso, was convicted in connection with a December 2017 incident at his Bangkok residence, where authorities responded to reports of him discharging a firearm without cause. During the raid, he resisted arrest and reportedly threatened officers with a weapon, prompting law enforcement to deploy a special response unit.
The Min Buri Criminal Court officially announced the Supreme Court’s ruling on 20 May. Prosecutors had charged Sek with violating multiple laws, including the Firearms and Ammunition Act of 1947 and statutes against drug use and obstructing police duties.
Originally sentenced in October 2018, Sek received six months for unlawful firearm possession, which was reduced due to a confession. He also received one and a half years for resisting arrest and an additional six months for narcotics use. Combined with a previously suspended sentence for an unrelated assault case, the cumulative term reached 2 years and 21 months.
Though he argued that he had been affected by bipolar disorder at the time of the arrest, the courts rejected the mental health defense, citing evidence indicating he was fully conscious of his actions.
The Court of Appeal later adjusted one of the charges concerning possession of a licensed firearm registered under another name, reducing it to three months. However, the court upheld the decision to deny parole.
The Supreme Court ultimately modified the total sentence to 2 years, 12 months, and 20 days. Sek has since been transferred to Min Buri Remand Prison to begin his incarceration. Court officials, legal counsel, and law enforcement representatives were present for the verdict announcement.
