PATTAYA, Thailand — Authorities in Pattaya have launched an investigation into the deaths of two foreign nationals who were found dead in the same condominium just hours apart on July 17, 2025, prompting concerns about a possible link between the two cases.
The first body, that of a Swedish man, was discovered at approximately 2:00 p.m. by a caretaker at the eight-story condominium located in Moo 10, Nong Prue Sub-district, Bang Lamung District, Chonburi. The deceased was found in a bathroom on the fifth floor with blood on the floor and the tap still running. According to police, there were no visible signs of a struggle.
Roughly two hours later, the same caretaker, 27-year-old Thanyachanok, found a second body on the seventh floor. The deceased was identified as 54-year-old Australian national Michael Shane. He was found lying face down in a pool of blood next to his bed. A broken glass was near his left elbow, and various medicine bottles were scattered throughout the room. As with the earlier case, investigators noted no signs of a struggle.
The caretaker told police that Shane’s friends had asked her to check on him after being unable to reach him for two days. She reported that his room was locked from the inside and had a strong odor. Upon discovering the body, she secured the room and alerted the authorities.
Police Lieutenant Colonel Saichai Kamchula of the Pattaya City Police Station said that while the two deaths currently appear unconnected, their proximity in time and location warrants further scrutiny. Both bodies have been sent to Pattumkhun Hospital for autopsy and to await contact from their families.
Officials stated that the investigation remains ongoing, and all possibilities are being considered to determine whether the deaths were coincidental or potentially linked.
