Luxury bikers from Malaysia boost Krabi tourism

On 29 June 2025, a group of luxury motorcycle tourists from Malaysia arrived in Krabi, helping to stimulate tourism during the province’s typically quiet low season.

The visit is part of efforts to promote Krabi as a year-round travel destination and strengthen tourism links between Thailand and Malaysia.

The group, known as BMW RT NORTH, traveled by big bike along a scenic route from Satun and Trang provinces before reaching Krabi. Their itinerary included stops at several attractions, aimed at showcasing local tourism opportunities and encouraging further cross-border travel. The visit also served as part of the Andaman Driving Tour initiative, an ongoing collaboration to enhance regional tourism.

According to the Tourism Authority of Thailand (TAT) Krabi Office, Malaysian tourists currently top the list of foreign arrivals to the province. The TAT sees this type of group travel as a way to diversify Krabi’s appeal beyond its well-known coastal destinations, especially during the monsoon season when beach tourism declines.

During the group’s stay, accommodation was arranged at the Golden Beach Resort Hotel in Ao Nang, Mueang District. While the main focus was on travel and tourism promotion, the visit also included a cultural exchange component, with Malaysia’s Kedah State Tourism Director introducing attractions from his region.

Officials who took part in welcoming the tourists included Soraya Homchuen, Director of TAT Krabi Office; Adisorn Sumalee, a coordinator with the Tourism Council of Thailand; Wattana Rungsamut, an advisor to the Krabi Tourism Business Association; and local private sector representatives.
