A female transport rider in Bangkok is seeking justice after being allegedly harassed by an Arab customer during a ride on February 23, 2025. The woman, identified as Bee, a 40-year-old rider, filed a complaint at Lumphini Police Station, determined to pursue the case fully.
Bee recounted the harrowing experience to authorities, explaining that she had picked up the passenger at the Queen Sirikit National Convention Centre and was driving towards the Tobacco Factory area. Although the exact street location was unclear, the customer repeatedly attempted to grope her. Feeling increasingly uncomfortable, Bee decided to head toward a police station for safety.
Despite her efforts to deter the man by asserting that she deserved respect as a woman and as a rider, the harassment continued. In an attempt to escape, Bee rushed into a nearby police booth at the Wireless Intersection, only to find it unstaffed. She called for help, and the man, trying to avoid consequences, offered to pay for the ride and cover any damages if she stopped asking for assistance. When she refused, he fled the scene without paying.
Security camera footage later confirmed the man’s inappropriate behavior, showing him touching Bee’s shoulder. Bee, who has been a rider for two years, expressed her resolve to see the case through, emphasizing the importance of mutual respect between customers and female riders.
The rider plans to temporarily halt her work to highlight the significance of this case, which she hopes will serve as an example. Bee has provided the police with the man’s contact details, which authorities are using to identify and prosecute him.
Lumphini Police are actively investigating the matter, aiming to apprehend the suspect and bring him to justice as swiftly as possible.
