PHUKET โ The Italian Navyโs celebrated tall ship, Amerigo Vespucci, has docked at Phuket Deep Sea Port as part of a three-year world tour dedicated to promoting Italian culture. Named after the famed 16th-century explorer, the 94-year-old vessel offers visitors a glimpse into Italyโs artistic and architectural heritage through an onboard exhibition.
The Amerigo Vespucci’s next destination after Phuket will be India, continuing its mission to celebrate Italy’s rich history and cultural influence. In addition to the cultural exhibits, the ship also features an Italian restaurant onboard, adding to the immersive experience for visitors.
Admission to the exhibition is free, but visitors are required to register in advance. Visiting hours are as follows:
- Thursday: 10amโnoon, 2pmโ7pm
- Friday and Saturday: 10amโnoon, 3pmโ5pm
- Sunday: 10:30amโ12:30pm, 3pmโ7pm
To mark the shipโs arrival, Thailandโs Third Naval Area Command, led by Vice Adm Suwat Donsakun, dispatched two patrol boats and a helicopter to escort the Amerigo Vespucci as it arrived at Phuket on Tuesday. The command will also provide security for the vessel throughout its stay.
