Bangkok MRT Launches a ‘Metro Art’ Attraction

The “Metro Art” project, Bangkok’s newest art venue and creative landmark, formally launched on December 26 at the MRT Phahon Yothin subway station.

Bangkok Expressway and Metro Public Company Limited (BEM) and Bangkok Metro Networks Limited (BMN) developed the over 30 million Baht project, which is supported by the Tourism Authority of Thailand (TAT) as a new location for tourists and Thais to visit, particularly those who appreciate art and creativity.

The free art project, according to Wattana Sittiwaitayaporn, BEM’s Assistant Managing Director of Commercial Development and Corporate Communications, takes up 1,000 square meters. Throughout the year, guests will be able to participate in a variety of events and exhibitions, including modern and classical art by well-known artists.

The International Watercolor Society Thailand (IWS) is supporting the event, which also includes a Painting Learning Center where visitors may learn about various art styles.

The “Metro Art” initiative is the MRT subway system’s first art show, and it is intended to boost MRT utilization by 20%, from 25,000 to 30,000 passenger journeys per day.

More information about the event may be found on the MRT Bangkok Metro’s Facebook page.
