Bangkok Tightens Covid Measures Ahead of Tourist Influx

Bangkok city council has declared that it is making all necessary steps to restrict the spread of COVID-19, since more guests are expected to visit the Thai capital this year.

Bangkok Governor Chadchart Sittipunt stated that he has directed deputy governors to review the city’s public health system’s readiness, including available people, beds, medicine, and vaccination.

The city hall will actively monitor the situation in tourist attractions like as Yaowarat Road, Khaosan Road, hotels, temples, and floating markets, which may witness an increase in transmission hazards as the number of visitors increases.

The city has also reactivated its COVID-19 command center to ensure correct information reporting, as well as encouraging health and hygiene measures like as mask-wearing, social distance, hand hygiene, and the SHA Plus measure for enterprises.

The Bangkok governor hinted that the city hall would explore distributing COVID-19 vaccines to tourists who are interested, as well as developing a mechanism to assist travelers who are unable to return to their country of origin owing to COVID-19. Some nations need their residents to obtain a negative COVID-19 test result before returning.
