Flooding in the Hat Yai area of Songkhla province has halted southern train service from Bangkok to Hat Yai at Kuan Niang station, according to the State Railway of Thailand (SRT).
According to the SRT, all rail services between Hat Yai and Padang Besar in the Sadao region remain suspended in the aftermath of a bombing incident on a freight train that seriously damaged the lines. Last week, three railroad workers were killed and four others were injured in a separate event near the location of the first incident.
The SRT reported that repairs to the broken rails are still in progress, so travelers who desire to travel from Hat Yai to Bangkok by train should notify the SRT in advance.
