Catering Services Select SRT Routes Return

The State Railway of Thailand (SRT) has resumed onboard food services on select express routes to the North, Northeast, and South after a two-year break due to the worldwide pandemic.

According to SRT Public Relations Director Ekkarat Sriarayanpong, the SRT invited proposals from private businesses to operate restaurant cars on four express services on the Northern, Northeastern, and Southern lines from September 27 to October 17.

Advanced Marketing Services, according to the director, has been given a catering contract that will end on December 5, 2025. SRT restaurant cars will be reintroduced on specific routes beginning December 6, 2018.

Passengers on the Uttarawithi Express (Bangkok-Chiang Mai), Taksinarath Express (Bangkok-Hat Yai), Isan Wattana (Bangkok-Ubon Ratchathani), and Isan Mankha (Bangkok-Nong Khai) may now purchase ready-to-eat meals and hot and cold beverages, according to the SRT.

The SRT will seek bids for the similar service on other express routes between Bangkok and Chiang Mai, Sungai Kolok, Trang, and Nakhon Si Thammarat starting next month.
