An official committee has designated 15 further cities as “Smart Cities”

Approximately 20 billion baht in private investment is anticipated to enhance the livelihoods of rural residents, and the government’s smart city committee has identified 15 more locations for Smart City development.

The Smart City Steering Committee of Thailand has approved 15 new sites in 14 provinces to be developed into Smart Cities, raising the total number of Smart City initiatives in Thailand to 30 sites in 23 provinces.

Rayong, Phitsanulok, Chiang Rai, Nakhon Ratchasima, Krabi, and Pattani are just a few of the newly recognized Smart City locales that fall under the primary and secondary tourism city categories.

While presiding over a meeting of the Smart City Steering Committee, Deputy Prime Minister Gen. Prawit Wongsuwan called on all sectors to cooperate for the greater good of the people.

He said that developing smart cities should be a priority at the national level because of its potential to improve quality of life, public safety, and long-term economic viability.

The Board of Investment of Thailand offers incentive packages tailored to specific sorts of investments made in “smart city” zones (BOI).
