The number of people utilizing Thai airports has grown considerably after COVID restrictions were abolished in various areas of the world. According to the Airports of Thailand Plc. (AOT), 96 million passengers would travel through Thailand’s top six airports in 2019. The “Sawasdee by AOT” app has been released to better serve customers.
Nitinai Sirismatthakarn, president of the Airports of Thailand (AOT), forecasts that the number of passengers serviced by the airports in his country would reach 96 million in 2019. That’s a growth rate of 68%, by the way. Suvarnabhumi, Don Mueang, Chiang Mai, Chiang Rai, Phuket, and Hat Yai make up the six airports. According to the AOT, air traffic will return to pre-pandemic levels in 2024, with a projected 142 million passengers.
The AOT has been implementing new digital systems to better serve visitors. The Association of Thai Airlines (AOT) and its partners have created the smartphone application Sawasdee by AOT, which they anticipate will become the “super app” for tourism in Thailand. Users may now view flight information, such as arrival and departure times and status updates, as well as receive alerts when flights are delayed or canceled. Passengers may also find out how long the lines are at passport control, security checks, and the check-in desk. Because of this data, fewer passengers will miss their flights. The app also has the ability to call a taxi. A number of languages, including Thai, English, Chinese, Hindi, Japanese, Korean, Spanish, and Russian, are supported.
The software includes “Sawasdee Pay,” a digital wallet created in conjunction with Krung Thai Bank. With this feature, users may pay with their Visa or MasterCard debit or credit cards. When making purchases at participating merchants using the wallet, the user will earn “AOT points.” Reward items from AOT partners can be purchased with the points.
Sawasdee, created by AOT, may be downloaded from both the Apple App Store and the Google Play Store.
