Minister of Labor, H.E. Mr. Suchart Chomklin, offered his sympathies following the Itaewon crowd crush in Seoul. On the evening of Saturday, October 29th, a stampede tragedy happened in the Itaewon neighborhood of Seoul, South Korea, killing at least 151 people and injuring another 82.
According to him, Thai Prime Minister Prayut Chan-o-cha has sent his sympathies and directed the Royal Thai Embassy in Seoul to assist Thais who have been impacted by the event.
Mr. Suchart Chomklin said he had the Royal Thai Embassy’s Labour Attache in Seoul confirm the status of Thai workers. No Thai workers were killed in the event, according to Mr. Nithiphat Wattanasuwakul, Minister Counsellor / Labour Attache of the Royal Thai Embassy in Seoul.
One Thai national (non-worker) was sadly confirmed dead by Seoul police to the Embassy. The funeral arrangements are now being coordinated by the Royal Thai Embassy in Seoul with Korean officials and family members.
