Soft power is employed to promote cultural tourism in 5 locations

The Ministry of Culture is extending its involvement in the economic dimension by utilizing soft power. Thai culture, art, and gastronomy are used to promote tourism and make Thailand a world-class cultural tourist destination.

Three organizations have signed a memorandum of understanding to collaborate on “a initiative to generate creative and cultural tourist products.” You may find them at the Ministry of Culture, the Tourism Authority of Thailand, and the Board of Trade of Thailand. The parties involved committed to working together to advance the required expertise and leverage advances in product and service development. The significance of cultural tourism itineraries is emphasized, with a focus on the ways in which community identities may be used to enrich these journeys. This would provide more opportunities for people and boost revenue for companies everywhere.

For the purpose of providing convenient, all-in-one tourist assistance, the “TAGTHAi” mobile application will be used. The information provided will be related to attractions, lodgings, dining establishments, retail establishments, and other points of interest frequented by tourists. These convenient, all-in-one offerings are seen to be a factor in Thailand’s rise to prominence as a top-tier cultural tourist destination. The initial phase of the one-stop services experiment would focus on at least five cultural tourist routes across Thailand’s five regions.

According to Minister of Culture Itthiphol Kunplome, the goal is to use cultural soft power to boost the Thai economy in the next five years. Before the COVID epidemic, he claimed, Thailand’s cultural and creative culture industry goods accounted for around 9 percent of GDP. Our target is for this percentage to amount to 15% of GDP. The agreements made in the memorandum of understanding will serve as blueprints for similar initiatives in other Thai neighborhoods. They’ll be incorporated into plans for welcoming visitors, who are anticipating a gradual return as the situation with COVID improves.
