BMA intends to employ technology to operate Chatuchak Market on an international level

Mr. Sanon Wangsangboon, Deputy Governor of Bangkok, and other authorities and stakeholders convened at the Chatuchak Market office to discuss the market’s future in terms of presenting an international level of excellence.

According to the Deputy Governor of Bangkok, the Chatuchak Weekend Market has an objective of being “a Bangkok market of international standard for people of all levels” (BMA Market ; International Quality For ALL”).

It is apparent that the vision involves not only the domestic market but also an international market, since the objective of making the market a digital leader is discussed. It may bring technology to aid in implementing adjustments in order to stay up with the modern world, as well as how to set an example and be compared to other marketplaces. To determine where the market is presently, we must examine and compare it to the international level.

This is also Bangkok’s vision: to make it a livable city for everyone. If there is a market for everyone, additional factors such as a Social Development Office for persons with disabilities, the majority of whom wish to have opportunities, may be included. Vulnerable populations may be included in occupational opportunities for commerce.

It is separated into three sections for market management objectives.

Because of the different formats, the work will be clearly separated into three parts. Each part is prioritized differently. Probably not assigning the same amount of emphasis to all 12 markets, each having an own style and vision.

There might be several action plans. In some markets, for example, the contract may be lower. We need to make it a more transitory arrangement. Or develop a vision in which you invest less but gain more. The Social Development Office and the community market may be able to collaborate. To aid the local economy, the community market might offer things manufactured by the community.

Furthermore, the market office may be a driving factor in Bangkok’s entire economy. Organizing hawker-stalls enables stall merchants to rent a location on the motorway, such as the space beneath the expressway. I believe that the marketing office may serve as a mentor to the district office in the hawker stall sector.

In this regard, the Bangkok Market Office provided revenue collection data during the meeting. The Bangkok Marketing Office’s Executive Committee will go on a field trip to arrange land lease contracts in the Phahon Yothin area, the Chatuchak Weekend Market area of the State Railway of Thailand Bang Khae Phirom Market Management, and steps to help and other contract tenants who have been harmed by the Coronavirus Disease 2019 (Covid 19) epidemic in Chatuchak Weekend Market.

The committee also intends to assist and deal with tenants of the Bang Khae Phirom market stall and to grant permission to cease from renting under other lease agreements in the Bang Khae Phirom Market. Request permission to decrease the area’s rent under other lease agreements.  Request permission to waive the fee for late rent payments at the tiny amulet market and allow renters of the Thewarat market booth to pay the late installment.

Apply for permission to prolong the payment term for stall rental and rent under other contracts. The right of the private sector to invest in, renovate, develop, and operate the Ratchadaphisek market area. Except in the event of bids, requesting clearance for steps to aid in the rehabilitation of other tenants in Minburi Market.
