A police official reported that 13 people were killed and 35 were injured when a fire broke out at a nightclub in Thailand’s Chonburi province, southeast of the capital Bangkok, on Friday.
According to Police Colonel Wuttipong Somjai, the fire at the Mountain B nightclub in the Sattahip area erupted at 1:00 a.m., and all of the victims thus far have been Thai nationals.
The accident occurred on a single-story structure with a land area of more than 3 rai. The fire was discovered to be raging inside the structure. Patrons of the club fled the premises, many in groups of ten, some with severe burns all over their bodies. Rescue crews needed to administer immediate first assistance. The patients was then transferred to Queen Sirikit Hospital in Sattahip.
It was difficult keeping the fire under control because the structure contains combustible materials, particularly the sound-absorbing foam.  The fire quickly spread throughout the structure with firefighters requiring the use of water for more than two hours before the fire was finally put out.Â

The authorities, however, were unable to ascertain the source of the fire. Witnesses provided early evidence that, prior to the flames, Two explosions were heard near the DJ booth stage. before the sparks become entangled in the sound-absorbing foam slate until it spread rapidly throughout the building.
The pub has only been operating for a few months and is a popular source of entertainment for the youth of Sattahip, with guests enjoying the music at the time of the event. When they spotted the fire, they ran and trampled on each other in a rough manner, resulting in a huge number of deaths.
Nui Voice Raphon, a regular musician at the shop, on Facebook revealed about the event that “I was one of the bands that played frequently at the mountain shop on Monday. The entry and exit were always the most unsettling things to me. It was very narrow since there was a sound booth in the middle of the exit. Customers enter and depart through one door and two floors.
Many will be reminded of the Santika tragedy, where a New Year fire killed 59 people, and injured 212 more at three-story Bangkok nightclub, in Ekkamai Soi 9 (Sukhumvit 63). With blame being laid at Santika management for a lack of adequate fire exits, eerily echoing possible causes for the Chonburi nightclub fire. Back in 2009 causes for the substantial death toll were considered to be the lack of exits, with then senior fireman Wacharatpong Sri-Saard providing details on the Santika exit situation “there was only one main way to get out from the front. People who worked there were able to escape from the back because they knew the exits, but the others had no chance.”
This is a developing story….
