Deputy Prime Minister and Energy Minister Supattanapong Punmeechaow is on an official visit to Saudi Arabia to boost bilateral relations and seek collaboration on tourism, agriculture, and energy.
Supattanapong on Monday (July 25) traveled to the Middle Eastern nation alongside Thailand’s Trade Representative, ML Chayotid Kridakon, and a team of Thai officials.
Upon arrival, Supattanapong met with the Saudi Arabian Investment Minister Khalid Abdulaziz al-Falih and Energy Minister Prince Abdulaziz bin Salman Al Saud to explore investment in multiple industries.
The two parties also discussed energy cooperation, particularly clean energy and renewable energy, electric vehicles, health tourism, the creative economy, and sustainable agriculture. The minister later noted that the conversations, which aligned with Saudi Arabia’s “Saudi Vision 2030” strategic framework, presented a chance for Thailand to increase its investment in Saudi Arabia.
Supattanapong also met Mohammad Abdullah Abunayyan, chairman of Saudi’s ACWA Power, to discuss plans to promote Thailand as the center for sustainable energy in Southeast Asia.
During the gathering, future investments in renewable energy between the two countries were also discussed, in keeping with Thailand’s 2050 objective to achieve carbon neutrality.
