Thawi Watthana Organic Agriculture Learning Centre

(22.06.22) Deputy Governor of Bangkok, Mr Chakphan Phew-ngam, and Mr Wirat Manassanitwong, Director General of the Environment Agency, visited the Khok Nong Na Organic Agriculture Learning Center project in the park on Phutthamonthon Sai 3 Road, Thawi Watthana District. Built by the Environment Office and occupying part of the park, the first phase of the Khok Nong Na Organic Agriculture Learning Centre project under construction at 15 rai, Thawi Watthana district, Bangkok, was started operations on April 21 this year. There is a 1,400-square-meter fish pond, the water introduced by the excavation of Sai Kai Canal while nourishing the rice fields. Among them is an organic vegetable field with an area of ​​about 3.5 rai, the mills for raising chickens and ducks, a garden for growing various mushrooms, and a cement pond to demonstrate how to raise Periwinkle and Shredded Shrimp. In addition, there is a paddy field with a total area of ​​about 3.5 rai, planted with 310 Rubber trees, 340 Golden Chamae, 359 Bamboo, 13 Wa trees and 13,000 Vetiver trees.

The second phase of the centre will start on the 30th of next Saturday, and the area will be expanded to include 5 more rai of rice fields and 2 rai of corn fields. Build a pond and canal around the field of about 2 rai to plant various plants such as rubber, padauk, Payong, Mahogany and Canada, totalling about 3,000 trees. In addition, in order to protect the plant species, the local species Chan-in tree is also planted, this unique ancient tree that is on the verge of extinction; the same tree can bear two types of fruits, the large spherical shape is called Luk, and the flat, spherical shape is called Asterisk.

The Deputy Governor of Bangkok has assigned the Environment Agency to coordinate the design of the park entrance by the Public Works Department. At the same time, the Thawi Watthana Regional Office is responsible for inspecting nearby plots. Whether it is an agricultural area or an unused wasteland, the space is greened into sports and recreational areas and connected to the environmental development of Bangkok. Khok Nong Na Organic Agriculture Learning Centre has opened to the public.
