Police Crack Down on Pattaya Walking Street Offenses

Thai authorities launched a coordinated street patrol on the evening of 16 June 2025 targeting illegal activities along Pattaya’s well-known Walking Street, in an ongoing campaign against human trafficking and unlawful nightlife operations.

The operation began shortly after 9:30 p.m. and involved a joint task force led by the Anti-Human Trafficking Division (AHTD). The patrol focused on identifying potential trafficking cases, enforcing age restrictions in entertainment venues, and ensuring compliance with laws related to employment and public safety. Venue owners were formally warned to adhere to regulations or risk legal action.

The mission, which forms part of Thailand’s broader anti-trafficking strategy, was carried out with support from Chon Buri Immigration Police, Pattaya City Police, the Department of Social Development and Human Security, and the non-governmental organization A21 Foundation. Bars and clubs along Walking Street were inspected for underage workers, illegal substances, and weapons, including nitrous oxide—a recreational drug of rising concern.

While no major infractions were uncovered during this sweep, authorities emphasized the importance of continued vigilance. Officials credited recent improvements in local enforcement for the relatively clean report, though efforts to dismantle trafficking networks remain a priority.

The crackdown was overseen by senior AHTD officials under the command of Pol. Maj. Gen. Songklod Gerikkritya, Secretary of the National Anti-Human Trafficking Center, and included input from Pol. Col. Kreetha Tankanarat, acting under directives from Central Investigation Bureau leadership. Pol. Maj. Gen. Songklod reiterated that while the focus remains on education, violations—especially involving minors—will carry serious consequences.

He also reminded the public that patrons under the age of 20 are prohibited from entering nightlife venues and encouraged citizens to report suspicious activity to the AHTD’s 24-hour hotline at 1191.
