Thailand’s “Amazing Food Festival 2024” Showcases Culinary Delights

Phuket, July 6, 2024 – The Tourism Authority of Thailand (TAT) is launching the “Amazing Food Festival 2024” series across multiple locations to showcase Thailand’s rich culinary diversity and bolster its reputation as a top gastronomy tourism destination.

Commencing this weekend at Central Phuket under the theme “Good Food Good Vibes,” the event aims to highlight the country’s vibrant gastronomic landscape while celebrating regional food cultures.

The inaugural event was inaugurated by Dr. Phonpoom Vipattipumiprates, Vice Minister of Tourism and Sports, alongside Mr. Sophon Suwanrat, Governor of Phuket Province, and Ms. Thapanee Kiatphaibool, TAT Governor.

Ms. Thapanee Kiatphaibool emphasized the festival’s alignment with the government’s “Ignite Tourism Thailand” vision, focusing on promoting Thailand as a premier tourism hub. Central to this vision is the “Must Eat” campaign, leveraging culinary tourism to enhance visitor experiences and bolster local economies through food-centric tours.

Over the three-day event, attendees can indulge in signature dishes and specialty menus from renowned MICHELIN-starred restaurants, popular eateries, and local street food vendors. Highlights include cooking demonstrations by acclaimed chefs such as Chef Big Phuripat Jaiweerattanakul, winner of Stars Chef Thailand, and Chef Kao Vayo Nisatchanakan, alongside rising talents and community chefs from Ban Bang Rong and Bang Tao-Cherng Talay.

In addition to gastronomic delights, visitors will enjoy live music performances by Thai artists including Chart Suchart, Getsanova, Earth Patravee, Off Pongsak, Tangmo The Voice, and Zani Nipaporn. Each location also features unique activities, such as art and craft booths and showcases of award-winning sustainable businesses recognized by the Thailand Tourism Awards.

Attendees can register for one-day trips through the “Amazing Food Festival 2024” Facebook page, offering insights into local communities and their role in supplying fresh ingredients to city restaurants and markets.

The event places a strong emphasis on sustainability, with waste separation stations throughout the venue and dedicated staff promoting eco-friendly practices among visitors.

Ms. Thapanee projected that the “Amazing Food Festival 2024” will draw 50,000 visitors per location and contribute 35 million Baht in revenue per event, totaling an estimated 100 million Baht injected into the Thai economy.
